Burj Al Arab restoration programme launches in Dubai, aiming to preserve the landmark’s legacy while enhancing its iconic luxury interiors.
DUBAI: Burj Al Arab restoration programme has been officially announced, marking the first major upgrade of Dubai’s most iconic hotel since its opening in 1999. The phased initiative aims to preserve the landmark’s global reputation while enhancing its interiors for future generations.
Operated by Jumeirah, the sail-shaped hotel has long stood as a symbol of Dubai’s luxury tourism and architectural ambition. Over the past 25 years, it has redefined hospitality standards with its signature butler service and opulent design, becoming one of the most recognisable structures worldwide.
The Burj Al Arab restoration programme is expected to span approximately 18 months and will be carried out in phases to ensure uninterrupted guest experiences. The focus will be on carefully restoring and upgrading the interiors, maintaining the property’s distinctive design elements while introducing refined enhancements.
The project will be led by renowned French interior architect Tristan Auer, known for his work on prestigious heritage restorations such as Hôtel de Crillon in Paris. His approach combines respect for traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities, aligning with the vision for the hotel’s next chapter.
Jumeirah’s leadership highlighted that the initiative reflects a long-term commitment to preserving the cultural and architectural significance of the property. The hotel, part of Dubai Holding’s portfolio, remains a flagship destination within the group’s luxury collection.
With 198 suites featuring gold leaf, marble and crystal detailing, the hotel continues to define ultra-luxury hospitality in the region. The Burj Al Arab restoration programme will ensure that these elements are preserved while adapting to evolving guest expectations.
As Dubai continues to strengthen its global tourism appeal, the Burj Al Arab restoration programme signals a renewed focus on heritage conservation alongside innovation in luxury hospitality.
