DUBAI: On your marks, get set… it’s all systems go for both budding and avid runners with Expo 2020’s running events now in full swing. Never has there been a better time to dust off those trainers to pound the brand new streets of the breathtaking Expo 2020 site.

With a dedicated running club, a weekly family-run, and a competitive race that changes things up thanks to its iconic location, the only question is “Are you ready for your next challenge?”

The Expo Running Club

1 October 2021- 31 March 2022

For those contemplating joining a club, the opening of Expo 2020 is the perfect time to get that plan over the line. Free of charge and open to all ages and abilities, The Expo Running Club will help members participate in various long-distance races across the UAE, while also improving fitness and wellbeing. Taking place at Expo Park (opposite Expo Village), members will enjoy 182 days of pacesetter and instructor-led running sessions.

Run the World

9 October 2021 – 26 March 2022

Created with families in mind, the second series of Run the World, which takes place every Saturday morning, set off on October 16. From Ghaf Avenue through all three Thematic Districts, the 1.4-kilometre circular route passes a host of International Participant pavilions making it an exhilarating way to see the site while letting those endorphins run free. It can be tackled as a brisk walk, an easy jog, or a moderately paced run, providing the perfect opportunity for up to 500 pre-registered participants to up their fitness levels and to meet other like-minded families.

The Expo Run

Want to embrace your competitive spirit? The Expo Run is a race with an iconic route that will incorporate 10,000 runners for a one-off event. A highlight of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, with 10 kilometre, 5 kilometre, and 3 kilometre distances, runners can push themselves to the limit while taking in Expo’s sights. The starting line next to the Kenya Pavilion is particularly apt, given the country has produced some of the world’s best runners – watch out for some big names and stiff competition. All runners receive free entry to Expo 2020 on run day, a custom-made race T-shirt, medal, and goodie bag, as well as a timing chip and a downloadable certificate.
