DHL will invest over EUR 500 million in the Middle East by 2030, boosting logistics infrastructure in the UAE and Saudi Arabia to support trade and e-commerce growth.
DHL Group has announced a EUR 500 million investment in the Middle East by 2030, focusing on infrastructure and logistics capabilities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The plan is part of DHL’s global Strategy 2030 to support growth markets and future trade routes.
Between 2024 and 2030, DHL’s investment will enhance infrastructure across its four divisions—DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain, and DHL eCommerce. This includes boosting regional aviation capacity, expanding warehousing, and improving last-mile delivery, particularly through the acquisition of AJEX in Saudi Arabia.
The Gulf region is increasingly becoming a key logistics and innovation hub linking Asia, Europe, and Africa. DHL aims to empower regional businesses with enhanced trade capabilities while supporting global supply chain resilience. The investment also supports the UAE and Saudi Arabia’s growing role as gateways to Africa and the wider global market.
DHL’s EUR 500 million Middle East investment cements its position as a logistics leader, with a focus on digital innovation, sustainability, and strategic trade facilitation across the Gulf and beyond.
The expansion targets high-growth sectors including energy (traditional and renewables), healthcare, life sciences, and e-commerce. DHL is seeing strong B2C inbound growth in Saudi Arabia, driven by rising tourism and high-end consumer demand.
DHL is integrating alternative fuels, electric delivery fleets, solar energy, and sustainable logistics solutions across all operations. These efforts align with regional environmental goals and aim to help clients achieve net-zero targets.
John Pearson (CEO, DHL Express) noted the region’s role as a trade catalyst. Hendrik Venter (CEO, DHL Supply Chain EMEA) and Amadou Diallo (CEO, DHL Global Forwarding MEA) highlighted supply chain sophistication and the push for digital transformation as key drivers of the investment.
