At the Sharjah Children Reading Festival, iconic comedian Anwar Maqsood, in collaboration with Bazm-E-Urdu and Yasir Hussain, will showcase the beloved shows of the late Moin Akhter.

Sharjah: Get ready for an unforgettable night as renowned comedian Anwar Maqsood pays homage to his lifelong friend Moin Akhtar at the upcoming Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF24). In this exclusive event, Maqsood will share stories and memories of his 36-year partnership with Akhtar, highlighting the iconic comedian’s unmatched legacy.

Expressing concern over the decline of Urdu language among youth, Maqsood aims to revive its cultural significance through the power of entertainment. Through a captivating play alongside Yasir Hussain, he intends to transport audiences back in time, allowing them to relive the magic of Akhtar’s illustrious career.

Joining the lineup is Bilal Maqsood, Anwar Maqsood’s son, who will present “Pakke Dost,” a puppet show aimed at capturing the hearts of young audiences. With a focus on promoting Urdu language and culture, Bilal hopes to ignite a passion for the language among children through the art of puppetry.

Organized by Bazm-e-Urdu in collaboration with the Sharjah Book Authority, the tribute promises an immersive experience, celebrating the enduring friendship and artistic brilliance of Maqsood and Akhtar. Attendees can expect a blend of live performances, multimedia storytelling, and a documentary highlighting Akhtar’s remarkable career.
