The 2024 Cannes Film Festival welcomed an unexpected yet delightful guest: Messi, the dog from the film “Anatomy of a Fall.” This four-legged star, who played Snoop in the Oscar-winning movie, was the first to grace the red carpet, bringing a playful and exciting energy to the event’s opening. Not only did Messi steal the spotlight, but he also took on the role of host at Cannes this year.
Messi, equipped with a microphone and a camera on his back, was seen joyfully frolicking around. He is set to host a show at the Cannes Film Festival, where he will interview celebrities through comedian Raphael Mezrahi’s voice. This innovative concept, titled “Messi: The Cannes Film Festival From A Dog’s Eye View, per People” features eight episodes that capture the festival from the dog’s perspective.
On Tuesday, May 14, as the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival began, Messi charmed the paparazzi with his presence. The 7-year-old Border Collie will be seen roaming the festival grounds with a 360-degree mic and a fitted camera, interacting with celebrity guests. According to the show’s production company, “It will be an opportunity for Messi to ask his guest any questions with the innocence of a dog.” These 1-minute episodes will be available on French TV channels.
Messi, who won the Palm Dog Prize in 2023, walked the red carpet with his owner and trainer, Laura Martin Contini. Contini, who adopted Messi as a puppy, expressed her excitement about the attention they’ve received in the U.S., stating, “It’s probably the maximum that you can accomplish in this field.” Following his appearance at the 2024 Oscars, Messi continued to impress spectators at the Cannes Film Festival, leaving no stone unturned in his quest to charm the audience.
