Winners of 14th Dubai Globe Soccer Awards crowned at evening of glitz

Dubai: The Dubai International Sports Conference, a part of the Dubai International Sports Council, recently celebrated excellence in global football through its prestigious awards, Dubai Globe Soccer Awards. Held at Atlantis, The Palm, the event recognized outstanding achievements in playing, coaching, and management.

Among the notable winners were Erling Haaland, named Best Player; Cristiano Ronaldo, who secured three awards; and Pep Guardiola, named Best Coach. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed praised the winners for their exceptional accomplishments and urged them to set high ethical standards within the global sporting community.

The ceremony was attended by key figures like Mattar Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of Manchester City, and Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, along with officials from various Dubai government departments and global clubs.

H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed extended his congratulations to the winners of the awards for their exceptional achievements. He emphasised the importance of promoting high ethical benchmarks in sports and urged the winners to leverage their influence and recognition to set exemplary standards, not only within their immediate sporting communities but also to the millions of followers they inspire worldwide. His Highness highlighted the crucial role sports icons play in shaping the values that define the sporting world and beyond.

The event kicked off with the Dubai Globe Soccer Digital Awards, recognizing achievements in digital media. Awards went to individuals and entities like Asgari_freestyle, Msdossary7, Fabrizio Romano, Alnoufali_7, Rafael Leao, and AS Roma. Saudi Media Company and Egypt’s ZED FC also received honors.

In professional football, awards were presented to emerging talents like Jude Bellingham and Aitana Bonmati, as well as established names like Lionel Scaloni, Cristiano Giuntoli, and John Terry. Club honors went to Al Ahly, FC Barcelona, and Manchester City.

The Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Saeed Hareb, highlighted the event’s global significance and thanked the dedicated team behind its organization. He emphasized the impact of international football icons participating in the conference and awards, showcasing the event’s international appeal.

The Dubai International Sports Conference also hosted a technical session titled ‘Women and Football’ at the Dubai Press Club, focusing on the growing role of women in football. The theme for this year’s conference was ‘Sustainability and Performance in Football,’ aligning with the event’s commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability. The organizers implemented eco-friendly practices and electronic invitations, marking a significant step towards achieving carbon neutrality on a global scale through a partnership with the Neutral Carbon Zone.

The Dubai International Sports Conference and the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards not only celebrate excellence in football but also demonstrate Dubai’s emergence as a major global venue for premier sporting events, emphasizing sustainability and inclusivity in the world of sports.

Other notable awards presented at the event recognised excellence in professional football:

  • Jude Bellingham, the star of Real Madrid and the English national team, was honoured with the Power Horse Emerging Player award.
  • Aitana Bonmati, the standout player from FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, received the Best Women’s Player award.
  • Egyptian club Al Ahly received the title of Best Middle East Club.
  • Jorge Mendes, representing the agency Gestifute, claimed the Best Agent award.
  • Cristiano Giuntoli of Juventus received the award for Best Sports Director.
  • Ederson, of Manchester City and Brazil, was named Best Goalkeeper.
  • Manchester City and Spain international Rodri took home the Best Midfielder award.
  • FC Barcelona was honoured with the award for Best Women’s Club.
  • Englishman John Terry received a Career Player award.
  • Lionel Scaloni, the Argentine coach, was recognised with the Best Coach award.
  • Manchester City was named Best Men’s Club.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo, of Al Nassr and the Portuguese national team, received the awards for Best Middle East Player and Globe Soccer Maradona Award for Top Goalscorer in 2023.
  • Pep Guardiola, the Spanish coach of Manchester City, was crowned Best Coach.
  • Casemiro, Brazil’s Manchester United midfielder, was honoured with a Career Player award.
  • Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of Manchester City, received the Best President award.
  • Al Nassr’s Ronaldo also secured the Fans’ Favourite Player Award.
  • Erling Haaland, the Manchester City and Norway striker, took home the Best Men’s Player award.
