PARIS: The Paris 2024 Olympics wrapped up on Sunday with a spectacular closing ceremony at the Stade de France. The event celebrated sportsmanship and global unity, featuring impressive performances by athletes, musicians, and artists.

Tony Estanguet, president of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee, and IOC president Thomas Bach gave uplifting speeches, honouring the athletes and the spirit of the Games. The Olympic flag was then officially handed over to Los Angeles, signalling the start of preparations for the 2028 Olympics.

The transition to LA2028 was marked by exciting performances and appearances. Singer H.E.R. sang the American national anthem, and actor Tom Cruise made a dramatic entrance, jumping from the stadium roof in a very Hollywood-style handoff to Los Angeles. The Olympic flag was symbolically transported from Paris to Los Angeles.

The Paris 2024 Olympics made a lasting impact, with the USA topping the medal tally with 126 medals, followed by China and Japan. These Games ushered in a new era for the Olympics, focusing on inclusivity, sustainability, and gender equality. The world now looks forward to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where the Olympic spirit will continue to shine.
