World No6 Jabeur withdraws from 2024 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships after persistent knee complaint

Dubai: Arab tennis sensation Ons Jabeur had to bow out of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships due to a nagging knee injury, confirmed by tournament officials. Jabeur, set for her ninth appearance at the prestigious WTA 1000 event, has been grappling with fitness woes since the year began.

Expressing regret, the tournament committee conveyed, “Unfortunately, Ons Jabeur won’t compete this year. We understand the significance of this event for her, especially with strong Arab support. We wish her a speedy recovery and eagerly await her return to Dubai.”

In her own words, the World No6 expressed, “To my dear friends and family, I must share that my knee isn’t holding up. Playing through this pain is unbearable, and not being able to perform at my best is frustrating.”

Consulting with medical experts, Jabeur disclosed her decision to withdraw from Dubai for additional treatment. She expressed anticipation for the upcoming US swing and thanked her supporters for their unwavering backing.

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, organized by Dubai Duty Free, enjoys the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
