The UAE strengthened its Arabian horse leadership after Fujairah’s championship received elite Class A international classification from ECAHO.

FUJAIRAH: The UAE reinforced its global standing in Arabian equestrian sport after the European Conference of Arab Horse Organisations approved the Fujairah Arabian horse championship as a prestigious Class A international event.

The announcement was made during the 43rd General Assembly meeting of ECAHO in Cairo, attended by Mohammed Ahmed Al Harbi, Director-General of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society and Vice President of ECAHO, alongside executive committee members and international representatives.

The Fujairah Arabian horse championship now joins the Sharjah International Arabian Horse Festival and the Al Shira’aa International Arabian Horse Championship among UAE events holding the elite Class A ranking. The classification reflects growing international confidence in the UAE’s organisational capabilities and professional standards in hosting major equestrian competitions.

Officials said the achievement highlights the country’s long-term commitment to preserving Arabian horse heritage while promoting world-class championships that attract breeders, owners and enthusiasts from around the globe.

Mohammed Ahmed Al Harbi said the General Assembly meeting discussed several measures aimed at strengthening technical and organisational standards across Arabian horse competitions internationally. He praised the efforts behind the Fujairah Arabian horse championship, noting that the event has achieved remarkable progress over recent years through high-level organisation and advanced infrastructure.

Al Harbi added that the recognition also reflects the confidence international organisations place in the UAE’s expertise in hosting large sporting events, particularly in equestrian activities supported by modern facilities and professional management systems.

The Fujairah Arabian horse championship is expected to further enhance the UAE’s reputation as one of the world’s leading destinations for Arabian horse events and breeding excellence.

ECAHO remains responsible for regulating Arabian horse championships globally, including competition rules, veterinary standards, horse welfare requirements and organisational oversight across international events.
