DUBAI: Dubai International Airport has kept its position at the top of the global aviation rankings. New data from aviation analytics provider OAG shows Dubai airport capacity reaching 4.34 million departing international seats in September 2026.
That works out to around 8.7 million international seats when flights in both directions are counted.
The result keeps DXB ahead of some of the biggest airport hubs in Europe and Asia and comes at a challenging time for airlines operating across the Middle East.
London Heathrow takes second place for international capacity in September, with around 4 million departing seats. Seoul Incheon follows with 3.78 million, while Amsterdam offers around 3.7 million.

Istanbul ranks fifth with 3.6 million seats, followed by Singapore Changi at 3.46 million and Paris Charles de Gaulle at 3.45 million.
Frankfurt moves into eighth place with 3.41 million seats, followed by Hong Kong International Airport with 3.21 million. Madrid completes the top 10 with around 2.7 million departing international seats.
DXB’s lead is particularly notable because aviation across the region has faced disruption. Airlines have had to deal with changing airspace conditions, route adjustments and wider uncertainty affecting travel across parts of the Middle East.
Despite those challenges, Dubai airport capacity remains strong, reflecting the city’s position as a major connecting point between Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Dubai is also preparing for its next major phase of aviation growth.

Development of Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central is part of the emirate’s long-term plan to significantly increase airport capacity. Dubai eventually plans to move DXB’s operations to the expanded airport.
