The Dubai Schools Games honoured top schools and rising athletes after attracting more than 21,000 registrations during its biggest season yet.
DUBAI: The Dubai Schools Games concluded its sixth edition with a prestigious awards ceremony at Dubai World Trade Centre, celebrating the achievements of young athletes, schools and coaches following a record-breaking season.
Sheikh Suhail Bin Butti Al Maktoum, Assistant Undersecretary of the Sports Department and Competitive Sector at the Ministry of Sports and President of the UAE School and University Sports Federation, joined Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Board Member of Dubai Sports Council, to present trophies to the season’s standout performers.

This year’s competition featured 27 sporting disciplines across Under-9 to Under-17 age groups and attracted 21,230 registrations, with 14,654 active participants representing 195 schools. The continued expansion reflects Dubai’s commitment to grassroots sport and aligns with the emirate’s long-term youth development ambitions under Dubai Plan 2033.
GEMS Modern Academy enjoyed an outstanding campaign, securing the Primary Overall School Champions title while also topping the Primary Team Sports standings. Credence High School claimed the Secondary Overall School Champions crown, while The Winchester School, Jebel Ali, won the Secondary Team Sports title.
Speaking after the ceremony, Kushal Sachdeva, Head of Physical Education at GEMS Modern Academy, credited the school’s success to long-term athlete development and consistent coaching from an early age. He also praised the school’s support in helping students balance sporting commitments with academic responsibilities.
The Dubai Schools Games also recognised more than 100 Rising Stars and honoured 10 Next Generation Talents across disciplines including athletics, football, fencing, swimming, judo and laser run shooting, highlighting the depth of emerging sporting talent across Dubai.
Top-performing schools and athletes will now progress to represent Dubai at the UAE School Games, providing another important pathway towards national competition. Supported by partners including MIDEA, Almarai and Volkswagen Al Nabooda Automobiles, the initiative continues to strengthen school sport while encouraging healthy lifestyles, teamwork and sporting excellence among the emirate’s next generation.
