Mozilla has added a Firefox privacy feature that removes tracking information from web links, making it harder for websites to follow users across the internet.
SAN FRANCISCO: Mozilla has introduced a new privacy feature in Firefox that gives users more control over their online activity.
The new Firefox privacy feature automatically removes special tracking codes hidden inside web links. These codes are often added by websites and advertisers to see where users click and what they do online.
Companies such as Facebook, Marketo, Olytics and HubSpot use these tracking parameters to collect information about how people move from one website to another.

With this update, Firefox can automatically remove many of these tracking codes whenever you click on a link or paste a web address into the browser. This makes it harder for websites to track your browsing activity across the internet.
The feature is part of Firefox’s Enhanced Tracking Protection, which is designed to improve users’ privacy while browsing.
To turn it on, open Settings, go to Privacy & Security, and change Enhanced Tracking Protection to Strict. Once enabled, Firefox will start removing supported tracking parameters from web links automatically.
