DUBAI: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new smart robot to help inspect Dubai Metro’s rail tracks safely, quickly and without stopping metro services. The new system, called the Automated Rail Infrastructure Inspection System (ARIIS), uses artificial intelligence and smart cameras to keep the tracks in top shape.
RTA worked with Keolis MHI and Future Maintenance Technologies (FMT) to bring this advanced robot to Dubai. ARIIS checks the metro tracks automatically, helping to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely for passengers.
For residents, this means a safer and more reliable Dubai Metro. With this robot, checks can now be done faster — up to 75% quicker than before — without delays or disruptions. Instead of workers spending over 2,000 hours on manual inspections, the robot can finish the same task in just 700 hours.
The robot uses lasers, sensors, and 3D cameras to spot any problems early. This helps RTA fix issues before they become bigger, keeping metro services running without interruptions. It also helps reduce the cost of maintenance by around 25%.
David Franks of Keolis MHI said the robot helps improve safety and lets them make better decisions using real-time data. Loic Ayoul, CEO of FMT, added that this new technology is a big step forward in making Dubai’s metro smarter and more eco-friendly.
The new system also supports Dubai’s Smart City goals and shows how the city is using smart technology to make life better for residents and visitors. More accurate data means better planning and fewer service problems.
With ARIIS now active, Dubai Metro passengers can expect a smoother ride, safer journeys, and better services all around.
