Amazon and Google unveil multicloud service to enable high-speed, private connectivity between AWS and Google Cloud in minutes.
SEATTLE/SAN FRANCISCO: In a landmark collaboration, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud have launched a joint multicloud networking service, allowing customers to establish private, high-speed links between their cloud platforms in just minutes, instead of the typical multi-week configuration process.
Announced on December 1, 2025, the new service integrates AWS Interconnect – multicloud with Google Cloud’s Cross-Cloud Interconnect, significantly boosting interoperability and data mobility across the two dominant cloud ecosystems. This service is expected to help businesses simplify their multicloud architecture and improve performance when moving applications and data across platforms.
“This collaboration between AWS and Google Cloud represents a fundamental shift in multicloud connectivity,” said Robert Kennedy, Vice President of Network Services at AWS. The service aims to meet growing enterprise demands for low-latency, reliable, and secure cloud-to-cloud networking.
According to Rob Enns, Vice President and General Manager of Cloud Networking at Google Cloud, the joint service simplifies complex network setups. “Our goal is to make it easier for customers to move data and applications between clouds,” he said.
The move reflects the increasing importance of multicloud strategies, where enterprises use services from multiple cloud providers to avoid vendor lock-in, improve resilience, and optimise costs. This partnership marks a rare instance of direct cooperation between the two cloud giants and is expected to accelerate enterprise adoption of hybrid and multicloud environments.
The service will initially roll out in selected data centre regions before expanding globally over the coming months, and both companies plan to enhance integration further with unified monitoring and support tools.
As digital transformation intensifies, seamless cloud connectivity is becoming a strategic requirement across industries such as finance, healthcare, media, and manufacturing.
