RTA new bridge project improves traffic flow from Al Bada’ towards Sheikh Rashid and Al Mustaqbal Streets in Dubai.
DUBAI: RTA new bridge infrastructure has expanded with the opening of a 500-metre bridge under the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, aimed at easing traffic flow and improving connectivity across one of Dubai’s busiest corridors.
The newly opened bridge facilitates outbound traffic from Al Bada’ towards 2nd December Street, providing smoother access to Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mustaqbal Street. Designed as a single-lane structure, the bridge can handle up to 1,200 vehicles per hour and significantly cuts travel time from eight minutes to just two minutes.
Officials said the RTA new bridge initiative forms part of wider efforts to enhance Dubai’s road infrastructure in response to rapid urban growth and rising traffic volumes. The Trade Centre area remains strategically important due to its proximity to Sheikh Zayed Road, a major artery connecting key parts of the city.
As part of the project, RTA is also converting the signalised intersection on 2nd December Street into a free-flow intersection, further improving traffic efficiency and reducing congestion in surrounding areas.
The RTA new bridge development is one component of the larger World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, which includes six bridges extending a combined 5,000 metres. Earlier phases included bridges linking Sheikh Zayed Road with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, along with additional routes connecting Al Mustaqbal Street and 2nd December Street.
Two more bridges remain under development, each featuring two lanes in both directions and designed to support around 6,000 vehicles per hour. Authorities said these upgrades are aligned with Dubai’s long-term mobility strategy aimed at creating a more efficient and seamless transport network.
The latest opening reinforces Dubai’s continued investment in infrastructure designed to support population growth and improve daily mobility for residents and visitors.
