DUBAI: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed road improvement works leading to the Hatta Souq Roundabout, enhancing traffic flow, road safety, and connectivity in the region.
As part of its infrastructure development plans, RTA constructed a 1 km service road parallel to Dubai-Hatta Road, improving access to Hatta Souq and easing movement between the roundabout and Masfut. The upgrades aim to reduce congestion and provide a smoother commute for both residents and visitors.
The project included modern lighting installations for better visibility at night, along with utility service relocations in coordination with service providers. Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, highlighted that the improvements prioritise safety and efficiency, ensuring the road meets the needs of Hatta’s growing population and tourism sector.
To manage surface water drainage, RTA implemented the Irish Crossing system, preventing water accumulation and enhancing road durability under varying weather conditions.
Al Shehhi emphasised that these enhancements support Hatta’s status as a key tourism hub, strengthening its connectivity to Masfut, Al Madam, and surrounding areas. The upgrades align with Dubai’s broader plans to enhance mobility and improve transport infrastructure in vital locations.
With these road improvements, visitors can now enjoy quicker access to Hatta’s markets and tourist attractions, reinforcing the area’s appeal as a popular getaway within Dubai.
