Government employees to work remotely; private school students to switch to remote learning

On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, following instructions from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, all Dubai government employees will work remotely due to weather conditions. This directive excludes roles requiring physical presence at workplaces.

Additionally, private schools are instructed to switch to remote learning on the same day due to the weather. Dubai authorities assure readiness to handle the anticipated weather impact. They have implemented preemptive measures to monitor and evaluate weather conditions to safeguard public safety.

H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, has also directed that Tuesday, 16 April, 2024 will be a remote working day for employees of Ajman government due to weather fluctuations.

The decision includes employees in all government departments in the Emirate of Ajman, except for jobs that require attendance at the workplace as determined by the competent authority in the government department concerned.

Similarly, the local Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team in Sharjah has decided to activate the distance learning system in all private schools and higher education institutions in the emirate on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Team has also called off all sporting activities and competitions organised by the Sharjah Sports Council in the emirate due to the prevailing weather conditions in the country.

The decision is aimed at maintaining the safety of students and teaching staff in the emirate and raising the state of alert and readiness to deal with any adverse weather conditions. The authorities are constantly monitoring the weather situation and hs taken all measures to ensure the provision of essential services in the Emirate.

The authorities underscored the importance of exercising caution while driving during rains and unstable weather conditions, and staying away from valleys and mountainous areas that are prone to flooding. The authorities cautioned the public against going to the sea and visiting mountains and valleys in the next few days.
