Dubai: Dubai has once again proven itself as a major global maritime hub in the 2024 Leading Maritime Cities report. It secured the top spot in the Arab world and rose to 11th place globally, moving up two spots from the 2022 report. The report, released by DNV and Menon Economics, recognized Dubai’s excellence in various aspects of the maritime industry.

Dubai’s rise in the rankings is credited to five main factors: its shipping centers, maritime technology, ports and logistics, attractiveness and competitiveness, and financial and legal aspects. The city’s focus on green technology in the maritime sector was also highlighted.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), attributed this achievement to the efforts of the Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA) within PCFC. He praised the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for their guidance.

Bin Sulayem emphasized the strategic plans and initiatives led by the DMA to enhance Dubai’s maritime sector, ensuring sustainable growth and development. He also thanked partners for their contributions and highlighted the PCFC’s role in strengthening partnerships with global maritime hubs.

Dr. Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al-Maktoum, the Executive Director of the DMA, reiterated the Authority’s commitment to innovation and development. He emphasized Dubai’s achievements in the maritime sector and its commitment to environmental practices and regulations.

Singapore retained its title as the leading maritime city globally, while Dubai led the Arab maritime capitals. Dubai’s strategic plans aim to further enhance its global position and excel in the maritime industry.
