Dubai: Dubai Municipality continues its journey towards environmental sustainability with the introduction of the smart marine scraper, a cutting-edge solution designed to address floating waste in the creeks and water canals of Dubai. This innovative technology, crafted by local Emirati talents in collaboration with the Al Khattal Boat Factory, signifies a notable advancement in the municipality’s environmental endeavors.

Operated remotely, the smart marine scraper boasts an extensive operational range and utilizes satellite technology for real-time monitoring. Its sophisticated control system harnesses the power of 5G networks to execute precise marine maneuvers, ensuring the efficient collection of waste.

What sets this scraper apart are its auxiliary systems. An intelligent marine survey system identifies waste sites and initiates removal procedures, while an interactive external environment system enhances marine safety by autonomously preventing collisions. With a remarkable capacity to handle 1,000 kilograms of floating marine waste, the scraper significantly enhances productivity.

Dubai Municipality remains steadfast in its commitment to providing integrated and efficient municipal services year-round. By addressing marine pollution stemming from floating waste, the municipality safeguards the marine and natural environments of Dubai.

To oversee the cleanliness of the water canals and creeks spanning over 35 kilometers, Dubai Municipality has assembled a dedicated team comprising 12 marine captains, 25 workers and sailors, and 12 marine vehicles. This team is entrusted with conducting daily cleaning operations according to a structured work plan, supplemented by round-the-clock field follow-ups. Their concerted efforts underscore Dubai Municipality’s unwavering dedication to environmental stewardship and the preservation of Dubai’s natural treasures.
