DUBAI: The interactive camera exhibit of Yalla Give, the Arab world’s first online fundraising platform, at Expo Live Pavilion ‘The Good Place’ is well on its way to reaching its target of 45,000 donated smiles, which each ‘smile’ representing a one-dirham donation by Expo 2020 Dubai to childhood cancer-focused charities and the Emirates Red Crescent.

The mission of Yalla Give, a ‘Global Innovator’ supported under Expo Live, the World Expo’s global innovation and partnership programme, is to make the world a better place by empowering innovative fundraising and providing trusted services for both donors and causes.

With this in mind, and with every visitor to The Good Place by Expo Live will be able to donate a smile by taking a picture at the exhibit, the number of smiles donated has now surpassed 36,000 – equivalent to AED36,000 in donations from Expo 2020 Dubai, via Expo Live.

Each smile can either be donated to the Al Jalila Foundation, supporting pioneering research into childhood cancer and helping children with cancer whose families are unable to afford treatment, or Sharjah-based charity Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) – helping cancer patients and their families overcome a multitude of challenges, and bringing hope in the most difficult circumstances.

FOCP was founded in 1999 under the directives and patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients, International Ambassador of the World Cancer Declaration for Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), International Ambassador for Childhood Cancer for UICC and Patron of the Global NCD Alliance Forum.

Visitors can also donate to the Emirates Red Crescent, the volunteer humanitarian organisation that supports official authorities in times of peace and war.

“For us we are trying to raise awareness about the work we do – about the wonderful projects we have from different charities around the world on our platform,” says Abdulla Al Nuaimi, CEO and Founder of Yalla Give.

“We believe that [this] legacy will continue. Linking Yalla Give with a smile donation is a big aim for us – to continue this method [of donation] virtually after Expo 2020 [Dubai] ends.”
