India announces largest wind energy project to power 3 million homes

NEW DELHI: India has announced its largest wind energy project to date, aiming to power 3 million households. This ambitious project, led by NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a government-owned entity, is set to significantly boost the country’s renewable energy capacity.

NGEL has partnered with Suzlon Group to develop a 1,166-megawatt (MW) wind energy project. The initiative will see the installation of 370 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 3.15 MW, across three sites in Gujarat, a state in western India known for its strong wind resources.
