Dubai: Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, Minister of Culture, highlighted UAE and its remarkable cultural infrastructure supporting creativity and nurturing talent. Speaking during the session titled “The Future of Creative Industries: How Can Governments Harness Talent?” at the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024 in Dubai, Al Qassimi emphasized the nation’s commitment to empowering creativity and talent.

The summit, themed “Shaping Future Governments,” convened various experts including Dustee Jenkins, Chief Public Affairs Officer, and was moderated by Mina Al-Oraibi, Editor-in-Chief of The National.

Al Qassimi expressed admiration for the multitude of cultural institutions in the UAE dedicated to nurturing talent, citing a systemic policy aimed at attracting and supporting creative individuals. He stressed the importance of flexibility in fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors to provide necessary resources and eliminate barriers for creative talents.

Jenkins highlighted the role of algorithms in shaping content consumption, urging a positive perspective on their potential to enhance user experiences. She cited the example of Spotify, where founders prioritized supporting creative individuals over profit, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding creators’ rights.

Jenkins emphasized the ongoing global efforts to empower creatives and called for governmental support in facilitating this objective.

The World Governments Summit 2024, organized around six main themes including Government Acceleration and Transformation, Artificial Intelligence and The Next Frontiers, and Sustainability and The New Global Shifts, aims to address pressing issues and shape the future trajectory of governance and societal development.
