His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, hosted a meeting with astronauts Sultan Al Neyadi, Hazzaa Al Mansoori, and Mohammad Al Mulla, as well as the UAE Mission 2 team from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC). The gathering took place at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi, where His Highness Sheikh Mohamed delved into the details of the Arab world’s longest space mission.

His Highness commended the team for their remarkable success in realizing the late Sheikh Zayed’s vision through the journey. Discussions with Al Mulla centered on his recent training sessions alongside Nora Al Matrooshi, a preparation for forthcoming human spaceflight missions.

In a touching gesture, Al Neyadi presented His Highness Sheikh Mohamed with a framed image of the UAE from space. Al Mansoori also handed over a treasured memento from his first space mission: a framed picture of His Highness alongside the UAE flag that accompanied him to space.

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed praised Al Neyadi and Al Mansoori for inspiring the youth of the UAE and the Arab world, while also pushing boundaries in the UAE’s relentless journey towards progress. He extended his congratulations to the UAE Mission 2 team at MBRSC for their unwavering support and dedication throughout the mission.

Al Neyadi shared insights from his six-month mission aboard the ISS, including pioneering experiments and collaborations with international space entities. He recounted the moments of the first Arab spacewalk, a historic feat that lasted 7 hours and 1 minute.

Al Mansoori, the first Arab increment lead, detailed his pivotal role in Expedition 69 and his coordination with crew members from the Mission Control Center in Houston.

The MBRSC team, led by Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Chairman of MBRSC, and Salem Humaid Al Marri, Director General of MBRSC, expressed their gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed. They provided an overview of the UAE Astronaut Programme, highlighting future missions and the nation’s commitment to pioneering the frontiers of space.

In the words of Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, “Our meeting with His Highness serves as an affirmation of our nation’s commitment to pioneering the frontiers of space. We are invigorated to make even greater strides in space science and exploration.”

Salem Humaid Al Marri added, “The success of the mission undertaken by Sultan signifies a pivotal leap in MBRSC’s journey, laying the foundations for a series of ambitious spaceflights that lie ahead. We aim to continually elevate innovation, exploration, and discovery in the field of space.”
