Dubai’s visionary AED128 billion airport plan highlights investment in future: Sheikh Hamdan

Dubai: In a meeting at the recently concluded Arabian Travel Market, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, emphasized commitment of Dubai to future investments, highlighted by the AED128 billion plan to construct the world’s largest airport, capable of accommodating 260 million passengers annually.

Dubai’s strategic location as a global nexus was underscored, offering cutting-edge infrastructure for international businesses to expand. Sheikh Hamdan stressed community involvement in shaping Dubai’s future, aiming for balanced economic and social growth.

The meeting was attended by key figures including H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. A report presented by Issam Kazim of DCTCM showcased Dubai’s thriving tourism sectors and its growing global demand.

The Executive Council approved the Commercial Transport Strategy 2030, focusing on doubling the sector’s contribution to the economy, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing operational efficiency.

Plans to improve traffic flow include prioritizing public bus routes and encouraging school transport usage. Flexible working hours aim to alleviate congestion.

Dubai’s strategic direction for data centers aims to establish it as a leading tech-driven economy by 2028. The initiative targets increased data capacity, value addition, and AI investments, overseen by relevant authorities.

Additionally, the Community Participation Policy, aligned with the Dubai Social Agenda 33, aims to enhance government services through increased public engagement and cooperation among stakeholders, emphasizing inclusivity, empowerment, and transparency.
