Dubai public transport riders hit 802 million in 2025, marking a 7.4 percent increase across metro, buses, taxis and shared mobility.

DUBAI: Dubai public transport riders reached 802.1 million in 2025, up from 747.1 million in 2024, according to the Roads and Transport Authority. The 7.4 percent increase reflects sustained growth across metro, buses, marine transport, taxis and shared mobility services.

Average daily ridership rose to 2.2 million compared with 2 million the previous year. Total trips across public transport, shared mobility and taxis reached 167.3 million, including 120 million taxi journeys and more than 41 million shared mobility trips. October recorded the highest monthly passenger volume at 72.8 million riders.

Dubai Metro accounted for the largest share of Dubai public transport riders at 37 percent, transporting 294.7 million passengers across the Red and Green lines, a 7 percent rise year on year. Taxis represented 26 percent of users, while public buses carried 197.2 million riders, marking a 5 percent increase. Shared mobility services saw the strongest growth at 30 percent, reaching 72.9 million riders.

Marine transport, including abras and ferries, served 18.4 million passengers, while Dubai Tram transported 9.9 million. Premium limousine services, not included in total public transport figures, carried 23.6 million passengers.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, said the continued rise in Dubai public transport riders reflects structural shifts in mobility patterns and long term investment in infrastructure, smart systems and network integration.

RTA plans to expand dedicated bus and taxi lanes to 20 km and is studying a trackless tram system across eight locations, reinforcing Dubai public transport riders growth and supporting sustainable urban mobility across the emirate.
