Dubai: Dubai Police recently praised an Emirati sailor, Issa Mohammed Al Falasi, for his quick and brave actions during a fishing trip. Al Falasi’s rapid response helped save eight fishermen when their boat flipped over, and he also recovered the bodies of two individuals.

Al Falasi, the captain of a fishing boat, had set out from Al Hamriyah Port in Dubai with two workers at 10 am. Little did he know that this day would become a story of his courage and lifesaving skills. Something unexpected happened – he saw a person in the distance wearing a life jacket, being carried away by the waves.

Acting quickly, Al Falasi steered his boat toward the distressed person and managed to bring him on board. He provided important first aid. To his surprise, the survivor told him that nine others from a rented boat were in trouble. Even though he didn’t have phone coverage, Al Falasi decided to find the remaining survivors.

Major General Ahmed Mohammed Rafie, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Community Happiness and Logistics Affairs, honored Al Falasi for his exceptional performance. The recognition was in line with the directives of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.

During the ceremony, Major General Rafie praised Al Falasi’s remarkable conduct, emphasizing the importance of human life. Al Falasi’s fast intervention played a crucial role in rescuing the fishermen during a critical moment.

The event was attended by several high-ranking officers, and Major General Rafie highlighted that Al Falasi’s actions exemplify the positive attitude and commitment of Emirati citizens in helping others, especially in challenging situations. He extended his best wishes for Al Falasi’s future success.

Recalling the tough situation, Al Falasi shared, “I didn’t have phone coverage, so I couldn’t immediately ask for help. I just wanted to find any survivors as fast as possible.” Undaunted, he guided his boat in different directions during the search, successfully rescuing a total of eight survivors. Unfortunately, two bodies were also found in the sea, adding a tragic aspect to the rescue effort.

Al Falasi expressed gratitude to Dubai Police for the honor, stating that his actions were driven by a sense of humanitarian duty and his commitment as a UAE citizen to assist others. He advised individuals planning fishing trips to prioritize safety by following necessary precautions and safety measures.
