Dubai’s 2030 roadmap for blue and green spaces aims to enhance quality of life with sustainable urban infrastructure.
DUBAI: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reviewed the 2030 roadmap for blue and green spaces during the World Governments Summit 2026. The AED4 billion initiative, launched by Dubai Municipality, integrates parks, beaches, and greenery into the city’s infrastructure, placing nature at the heart of its urban future. This move reinforces Dubai’s ambition to become a global model for liveability and environmental sustainability.
The Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap includes the creation of 120 new parks, the planting of 1.5 million trees, and more than 45 beautification projects by 2030. It supports Dubai’s vision of a balanced urban environment, aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the emirate’s broader sustainability goals. The roadmap focuses on enhancing public access to nature, improving biodiversity, and boosting residents’ wellbeing.
Public beach facilities will see a 400% increase, while jogging and cycling tracks will grow by 285%. Dubai plans to introduce three new beach destinations each year. These developments are part of a long-term strategy to foster active lifestyles and promote social interaction in natural settings. The roadmap also includes 200 recreational spaces integrated into green corridors.
According to Dubai Municipality, the roadmap is not only a local initiative but also a model to inspire other cities globally. By treating parks, beaches, and public spaces as infrastructure assets, the roadmap highlights Dubai’s commitment to people-focused growth.
