Taxi fare to change every month in Sharjah

Sharjah: As of July 1, taxi fares in Sharjah are said to increase or decrease based on the fuel prices as per the UAE Ministry of Energy.

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) the meter flag-down rate will accordingly be increased or decreased every month depending on the fuel prices.

This has been the practice since August 2015 when the country decided to align local fuel prices with global oil rates.

Petrol prices in the UAE have jumped over 56 per cent since January 2022 due to an increase in global crude oil prices, especially after the Russia-Ukraine war in February.

In 2014, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued decree No. 6 of 2014 on the establishment of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) in order to keep pace with the development and the rapid growth in the Emirate of Sharjah.
