Indian food supply to GCC remains stable as LuLu Group expands exports with government support and logistics efforts.

NEW DELHI: The Indian food supply to GCC countries continues to remain stable, as efforts intensify to ensure uninterrupted access to essential goods across the Gulf region.

Indian PM was recently briefed by Yusuffali M.A., Chairman of LuLu Group, on ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening supply chains and maintaining availability of food products. The meeting focused on ensuring continuity during a period of global uncertainty while also supporting price stability across markets.

Operating more than 280 hypermarkets across the GCC, LuLu Group plays a central role in food distribution. Its large-scale logistics operations have been instrumental in sustaining the Indian food supply to GCC markets, which rely heavily on imports for daily consumption.

According to the group, over 15,000 tonnes of food products have already been shipped from India using a combination of chartered flights, cargo vessels and regular shipping services. So far, 34 dedicated chartered flights have been deployed, with more expected in the coming weeks to meet rising demand.

These operations are supported by sourcing and export hubs across multiple Indian states, where production and logistics capacities have been increased. This ensures that both perishable and non-perishable items reach GCC countries efficiently, benefiting retailers and consumers alike.

The Indian food supply to GCC also supports farmers and exporters in India, enabling smoother movement of agricultural produce to international markets. This contributes to economic stability while reinforcing trade ties between India and Gulf nations.

Officials highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between government bodies and private sector players. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating seamless exports and maintaining strong supply chains during this period.
