Saudi Health Ministry supports about 93,000 pilgrims during first days of Hajj

Makkah: During the period from the first day of Dhu Al-Qi’dah to the eighth day of Dhu Al-Hijjah 1445 AH, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health provided medical aid to approximately 93,000 pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.

According to agencies, this assistance was extended through various channels such as medical clinics, pharmacies, kidney dialysis centers, intensive care units, and isolation units. Notably, the ministry conducted 19 open-heart surgeries, 218 cardiac catheterizations, and 676 kidney dialysis sessions. Moreover, 2,022 pilgrims were admitted to hospitals and medical centers for further care.

With a dedicated team of medical and administrative professionals, well-equipped facilities, and health centers scattered across Makkah, Madinah, and other sacred locations in Saudi Arabia, the ministry ensures the safety and well-being of pilgrims throughout the Hajj season.

Regarding vaccinations, the Ministry of Health revealed that 99 percent of domestic pilgrims had received the required vaccines for the 1445 AH Hajj season. However, permits for 150 pilgrims were revoked due to incomplete vaccination status.

Emphasizing the importance of vaccination, the ministry reiterated that pilgrims’ health and safety remain paramount. Vaccination helps prevent the spread of infectious diseases and maintains public health at the holy sites, allowing pilgrims to perform their rituals without health concerns.

The ministry had earlier urged prospective Hajj pilgrims within Saudi Arabia to complete their vaccination process well ahead of the pilgrimage to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
