Ethiopian Airlines Sharjah route boosts Africa-UAE ties

Previously operating cargo flights to Sharjah, the airline’s expansion into passenger services signals growing demand for cross-continental travel. This development also strengthens Sharjah’s role as a strategic gateway for global travellers and businesses entering emerging African markets.

The inaugural celebration featured a lucky draw, adding excitement to the launch. Winners received Business and Economy Class tickets, as well as a collectible aircraft model, symbolising Ethiopian Airlines’ aviation legacy.

Sharjah, now Ethiopian Airlines’ second passenger destination in the UAE, is emerging as both a cultural beacon and commercial hub. Its historical richness, dynamic industrial sector, and proximity to major airports make it a magnet for business and leisure travellers alike.

The route is expected to foster tourism, trade, and cultural exchange, while supporting Sharjah’s rising profile as a destination for eco-tourism, education, and innovation. Travellers flying this new route can expect world-class service and a smooth journey with Africa’s most awarded airline.

With Ethiopian Airlines Sharjah flights now operational, a vital new air corridor has opened, bridging Africa’s vast opportunities with the UAE’s global influence.
