Cartoon Network, the beloved kids’ channel from Warner Bros. Discovery, has been a staple of 90s childhoods with shows like Scooby-Doo, Tom and Jerry, and Johnny Bravo. Recently, social media was buzzing with a trend called #RIPCartoonNetwork, suggesting the channel was shutting down. This speculation started after an X handle called Animation Workers Ignited shared a video asking if Cartoon Network was “dead.”

The video highlighted the struggles in the animation industry, including layoffs and job cuts, and urged people to share their favourite Cartoon Network shows with the hashtag #RIPCartoonNetwork to raise awareness. It featured animated characters discussing the state of animation and criticizing big studios for cutting jobs and outsourcing work. The characters blamed greed for the layoffs and encouraged users to spread the word about their favourite shows.

This trend caused quite a stir online, with many users believing the channel was closing. “It’s the end of an era, Cartoon Network has officially shut down,” one user wrote.

Another user wrote, “It is really end of era on the iconic childhood memories in Cartoon Network.”

As per some users, the official website cartoonnetwork.com was being redirected to MAX channel website. Inspite of this news, users in UAE were being redirected to the official Cartoon Network Arabic website.

However, Cartoon Network has officially denied these rumours. They stated that there is no truth to the claims of shutting down and that they are committed to investing in new content. They reassured fans by saying, “Cartoon Network remains dedicated to creating innovative content for our viewers around the world.”
