SHARJAH: The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) inaugurated the “I am at Sharjah Museums” exhibition at Bait Al Naboodah, celebrating the work of talented students who participated in a competition launched to inspire young artists. The competition encouraged students to express their perspectives on Sharjah’s rich cultural heritage through photography.

The event was attended by representatives from SMA and guests from the Sharjah Private Education Authority, marking the conclusion of a unique contest designed to foster a deeper connection with Sharjah’s heritage. This initiative ran until November 3, drawing numerous students eager to showcase Sharjah’s cultural essence through their cameras.

Displayed in the exhibition are the winning photographs taken by students who explored 16 SMA museums across Sharjah, Khorfakkan, and Kalba. The photos capture vibrant scenes from the museums, depicting everything from the architectural beauty of heritage sites to the captivating exhibits. Covering themes like Islamic culture, art, archaeology, and marine life, the exhibition offers a fresh, youthful perspective on Sharjah’s diverse heritage.

SMA expressed pride in the students’ artistic accomplishments and reiterated its mission to nurture cultural appreciation among the youth. By giving young people a platform to explore and showcase the emirate’s cultural landmarks, SMA aims to deepen their connection to heritage and instill a lasting appreciation for their community’s identity.

Some standout photographs include “Beauty and Tranquility” from the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, “Sun Reflections” captured at Bait Al Naboodah, and “A World of Imagination” from the Sharjah Aquarium. These images offer a glimpse into the unique character of each museum.

Open to Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 students, the competition awarded 18 winners with cash prizes, and schools with high student participation, like Secondary Model School for Boys – Sharjah, received special recognition. The exhibition will be on display until April 6, 2025, inviting the community to appreciate these young artists’ perspectives on Sharjah’s heritage.
