Abu Dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has made a new law to create the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC). This council will take care of making plans and strategies about research, infrastructure, and investments in Abu Dhabi related to artificial intelligence and advanced technology.

Creating the AIATC shows a strong belief in the importance of being a leader in technology to build the economy of the future. The council will make plans and programs with partners from Abu Dhabi and around the world to make Abu Dhabi a top place for investments, partnerships, and talent in artificial intelligence and advanced technology. This move is part of Abu Dhabi’s plan to be a global leader in these important areas and to continue growing even beyond traditional industries like oil and gas.

UAE has witnessed a remarkable surge in the growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in recent years, propelled by visionary leadership and a commitment to technological advancement. Under the guidance of leaders such as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE has strategically positioned itself as a global hub for AI innovation and development. Initiatives like the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC) reflect the nation’s dedication to fostering AI research, infrastructure, and investments.

The UAE government’s proactive approach has led to the integration of AI across various sectors, including healthcare, finance, and smart city solutions, enhancing efficiency and driving innovation. In October 2017, His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama was appointed as the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence. Later, in July 2020, his role expanded to include Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications. The ministry’s role was in elevating government performance through the strategic investment in cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies and their application across different sectors.
