UAE AI Office and Samsung partner to promote youth AI development

Dubai: The UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office and Samsung Gulf Electronics have joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the adoption and development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the UAE.

The signing of the MoU is a crucial step towards achieving the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy goals by 2031. It also reflects Samsung’s commitment to leveraging AI capabilities to bolster economic growth and improve community well-being.

Saqr binghalib, the Executive Director of the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office, and DooHee Lee, President of Samsung Gulf Electronics, signed the MoU during the “AI Retreat 2024” event, organized by the Dubai Center for Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with the National Program for Artificial Intelligence.

binghalib highlighted the significance of public-private partnerships in realizing the UAE government’s visions, aiming to solidify the nation’s position as a global AI leader. This collaboration aims to elevate the AI ecosystem to international standards, fostering future AI talent and empowering the next generation of innovators.

DooHee Lee expressed Samsung’s commitment to supporting the UAE’s AI vision, emphasizing the positive impact of technology on society. The partnership aims to drive AI adoption in government, nurture local talent, and demonstrate AI’s potential for transformative change.

Under the MoU, both entities will collaborate on initiatives to promote AI education among youth. This includes integrating Samsung’s Innovation Campus (SIC) CSR program into the UAE’s AI Summer Camp 2024 edition and launching the Galaxy AI Pioneers program to train youth in AI concepts.

The Galaxy AI Pioneers program, designed for students aged 13-18, offers comprehensive AI training covering key concepts like machine learning and coding. Participants will develop AI applications leveraging Galaxy AI features, receiving certification from the UAE Office of AI upon completion.

Samsung Innovation Campus provides ICT education, including AI, IoT, and programming, along with soft skills training. This comprehensive approach aims to cultivate talented youth capable of shaping the future society positively.
