2022 will be a comeback year for events, I hear this often…

As our world evolves, events too are evolving to accommodate the needs of our community by hosting physical, virtual, and/or hybrid events. A new era for events is gradually but certainly coming up, and the setting holds challenges from both the past and the future.

Growing up, I was quite the entertainer, looking for ways to make my friends laugh. I loved having friends over and we sought to enjoy the little pleasures in life. I grew up in Mumbai, a city that never sleeps and a city of dreams. While thinking about the career I wanted to be in, I knew I had to be in an industry that entertains. I was introduced to the world of Live Events by a dear friend and thus began my journey.

Late-night setups, traveling, meeting people, forging new relationships, solving an issue that pops up, and who can forget the euphoria that follows a successful execution of an event. As I look back at the milestones, I have carved in my career I feel nostalgic and then the reality of today hits me.

There is a certain kind of magic in creating live events and when all its elements come through, memories are created. In the end, the time put in and all the hardships we go through in creating these new experiences are finally worth it.
An entire industry was brought to a standstill by the pandemic, a creature that cannot be seen but has turned our lives upside down. Countries were on lockdown and gatherings were banned.

So where does one go now? This is a question most people in my industry were asking. The repercussions of an entire industry shutting down were causing a chain reaction. Hotels, banquet halls, auditoriums, stadiums, and the AVL solution providers were all affected. From the logistics industry to moving equipment daily to event sites, travel & hospitality, production, and technical staff have all been affected as the result of COVID- 19 lockdowns. Entertainers, designers, and animators are some of the people who are also an important part of the industry and are now looking up to a bright future.

The future seemed uncertain and the livelihoods of people were affected in ways we cannot imagine. But there is hope, that things are getting back to normal.

This new normal may not be what we expect, and we will need to adapt ourselves. I am sure we all used our time to Rest, Rejuvenate, and Revive.

As I rested and caught up on the sleepless nights and spend some quality time with the family, this new comeback is for real. I know many of you share the same sentiments and look forward to it.

As Victor Hugo said, “Even the darkest night will end, and the sun will rise.” Well, this is so true and the sun is definitely rising. Here is looking forward to the sun rising on our livelihoods and EVENTS again.

Thank you for all your support, you know who you are.
