GAZA: The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to deepen as Gaza humanitarian aid remains critically insufficient to meet even basic needs, Oxfam International has warned. According to WAFA News Agency, the aid entering the region barely addresses a fraction of the urgent requirements accumulated over the past 15 months.
Hadeel Qazzaz, an Oxfam spokesperson, highlighted that the most pressing concern is the severe shortage of clean drinking water, exacerbated by the widespread destruction of water infrastructure. “This shortage is particularly critical given the widespread destruction of water pipelines across the region,” she stated.
The healthcare system is also on the brink of collapse, with hospitals struggling to treat over 100,000 injured individuals. The lack of medical supplies and the deliberate destruction of health facilities have further worsened conditions, leaving thousands without access to critical care.
The shelter crisis remains dire, especially as winter intensifies. Oxfam reports a severe lack of tents and caravans, making displacement even more unbearable. “Shelters are overcrowded, and many are unable to accommodate additional displaced persons,” Qazzaz noted.
With no immediate solution in sight, humanitarian organisations are calling for an urgent increase in aid to prevent further suffering. The ongoing crisis highlights the desperate need for international intervention to address Gaza’s worsening humanitarian situation.
