Mumbai: In a heartbreaking incident, around 39 flamingos were discovered dead across various suburbs in Mumbai on a Monday evening. The cause? A collision with an Emirates aircraft landing at Santacruz airport. This unfortunate event unfolded around 8:45 pm, leaving the local community in shock.

Efforts to recover the deceased birds began around 10 pm following multiple complaints from residents. Led by forest officials and supported by security personnel, the operation aimed to mitigate the impact of the collision.

The search continued through the night and into the next day, resulting in the recovery of 39 flamingo carcasses. This prompted an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the collision.

The tragedy caught the attention of locals when children playing in the area witnessed dead birds falling from the sky. The collision occurred as a flock of flamingos collided with an aircraft. While no carcasses were found on the aircraft, evidence of the collision was present.

Local wildlife authorities, along with wildlife welfare organizations, responded to distress calls from residents reporting injured flamingos. Despite their efforts, many birds had already succumbed to their injuries.

Recognizing the protected status of flamingos, authorities took custody of the carcasses for further examination. Post-mortem investigations are currently underway to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Access to the aircraft involved in the collision was restricted, raising questions about the transparency of the investigation process.

Experts suggest that urban development and infrastructure in the area may have contributed to the incident. Concerns have been raised about the impact of unauthorized construction along water bodies, potentially disturbing wildlife habitats.

This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of wildlife conservation and the need for better measures to protect our natural habitats.
