Abu Dhabi: 02 March 2026- The Ministry of Defense announced that UAE air defenses successfully intercepted 9 ballistic missiles, 6 cruise missiles, and 148 drones today.

The Ministry explained that since the start of the Iranian attack, 174 ballistic missiles have been launched towards the country, of which 161 were destroyed, while 13 fell into the sea. Additionally, 689 Iranian drones were detected, 645 were intercepted, and 44 crashed within UAE territory. Eight cruise missiles were also detected and destroyed, causing some collateral damage, including three fatalities and 68 minor injuries.

The Ministry confirms that the sounds heard in various parts of the country are a result of air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles and fighter jets intercepting drones and cruise missiles, which led to minor to moderate material damage to a number of civilian sites.

The Ministry strongly condemned this military attack, considering it a blatant act of aggression and a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and international law. The State reserves its full right to respond to this escalation and take all necessary measures to protect its territory, its people, and its residents, ensuring the preservation of its sovereignty, security, and stability, and safeguarding its national interests and resources.

The Ministry of Defense affirmed its readiness to deal with any threats and stated that it is taking all necessary measures to firmly confront anything that aims to undermine the security and stability of the State. It added that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors is a paramount priority that cannot be compromised.

The Ministry urges the public to obtain information from official sources within the State and to avoid circulating rumors or unreliable information.
