SHARJAH: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved the establishment of an organic honey products factory and laboratory in the emirate’s central region. This initiative aims to position Sharjah as a leader in sustainable honey production and its derivatives.
The facility will specialise in producing organic honey alongside pharmaceutical and cosmetic products derived from honey. The project is slated for completion by October 2025, marking a significant step in boosting local industries and advancing environmentally friendly practices.
In its first operational phase, the factory is projected to produce 120 tonnes of honey annually, meeting both domestic demand and potential export opportunities. This milestone aligns with the emirate’s broader vision of fostering innovation in agriculture and sustainable manufacturing.
The project will support the UAE’s commitment to food security, sustainability, and economic diversification. By combining advanced technology and organic methods, the factory aims to ensure high-quality production while preserving the region’s natural resources.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to leverage the unique environmental conditions of Sharjah’s central region, known for its biodiversity and suitability for honey production. It will also offer employment opportunities and promote research and development in apiculture, supporting local and regional scientific advancements.
The laboratory accompanying the factory will focus on quality assurance, research into honey-based products, and innovations in pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. By fostering collaboration between industry experts and researchers, the facility will contribute to Sharjah’s reputation as a hub for sustainable and innovative enterprises.
This project reinforces Sharjah’s dedication to promoting self-sufficiency, environmental sustainability, and economic growth, ensuring a thriving future for its agricultural sector.
