The Indian Consulate in Dubai has announced faster passport processing, expanded walk-in services for emergency cases and Tatkal applications, while urging applicants to use the official portal for appointments.
DUBAI: The Indian Consulate in Dubai has announced a series of measures to streamline passport services and preparations for India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations. Newly appointed Consul General of India, Dr E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, briefed the media on the transition of passport services to the new Indian Consular Application Centres (ICAC) and outlined efforts to improve service delivery for the Indian community in the UAE.
The Indian passport services transition is being implemented on a priority basis, with the Consulate focusing on clearing pending applications before Independence Day. Special emphasis is being placed on Tatkal applications, with officials aiming to restore standard processing timelines as quickly as possible.
To support applicants with urgent requirements, the Consulate has introduced walk-in facilities for Tatkal passport applications, newborn passport cases and Emergency Certificate requests. These measures are intended to ensure that individuals with time-sensitive needs receive faster assistance.
Dr Reddy also urged members of the Indian community to book appointments only through the official portal, consularsevainuae.com, and cautioned applicants against using fraudulent third-party service providers. He clarified that the standard service fee for all passport-related services is AED 19, with no additional charges payable beyond the prescribed fee.
The Indian passport services overhaul comes as the Consulate prepares for India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations with several community-focused initiatives.
The first is the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, running from August 9 to August 17, 2026, Another initiative, Surya Path Tiranga, will see a symbolic global relay of the Tiranga being hoisted across Indian Missions and Posts worldwide. The programme will follow the path of the rising sun from east to west across different time zones, highlighting the global presence of the Indian diaspora.
The Consulate will also commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram through collective singing of the national song and patriotic cultural programmes.
In addition, a special Independence Day edition of the Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz will invite Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and foreign nationals to test their knowledge of India. The top five participants will be felicitated at the Consulate during the Independence Day celebrations, with the overall winner receiving a special prize.
The Consulate said these initiatives are designed to strengthen community participation while ensuring improved Indian passport services for residents.
