Hatta Comprehensive Development Plan delivers key infrastructure including a new amphitheatre, school and eco farms, enhancing Hatta’s tourism and local services

DUBAI: The Supreme Committee for the Development of Hatta, chaired by Mattar Al Tayer of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has successfully completed a series of projects under the Hatta Comprehensive Development Plan. These initiatives aim to transform Hatta into a leading sustainable tourism and community hub, with major improvements to education, agriculture, and mobility services.

Among the standout features of the plan is the newly constructed Hatta Dam Amphitheatre. Spanning 610 metres and rising 37 metres in elevation, the amphitheatre offers visitors an accessible path to the top of the dam with six rest stops along the way. Designed for all users, including People of Determination, the structure blends into the natural landscape while offering panoramic views and access to nearby leisure activities such as kayaking and hiking.

The development also includes a fully serviced school, built to international standards, accommodating over 1,000 students. The school boasts 44 classrooms, science labs, a multi-purpose theatre, and sports facilities, all supported by green features such as solar panels and water-saving systems.

In a push to boost local agriculture and food security, three farms were developed: the Strawberry Farm, Hatta Farm, and Leafy Greens Farm. These sites now utilise modern hydroponic and vertical farming technologies, enhancing output while promoting sustainability. The farms also offer training for agricultural workers and direct-to-consumer sales outlets.

Other completed initiatives include hiking and mountain biking trails, the construction of prototype housing units in Makan, and mobility enhancements around the region. Still underway are new community facilities like the Hatta Majlis, a 1,000-seat wedding hall, the Hatta Community Service Centre, residential developments for UAE nationals, and upgrades to Hatta Hospital and local sports clubs.

This wave of development is designed to strengthen social cohesion, improve services for residents, and position Hatta as a vibrant, year-round destination for tourists and locals alike. The Hatta Comprehensive Development Plan continues to support Dubai’s broader vision of sustainable urban and rural integration.
