Fili Petting Farm opens in Sharjah’s central region, offering families an educational and heritage inspired experience.
SHARJAH: Fili Petting Farm officially opened on Sunday morning under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The new destination forms part of the wider Heritage Fili development project and spans 14,815 square metres near the Heritage Souq, fort and falaj.
During the ceremony, the Ruler unveiled the commemorative plaque before touring the facilities and reviewing the farm’s educational components. Children presented a performance expressing their appreciation and highlighting the emirate’s continued progress across its regions.
Fili Petting Farm is designed as an interactive learning environment where visitors, especially school groups and families, can understand the historic role of animals in daily life and their importance in sustainable living. The farm includes a main hall and dedicated educational space for workshops and awareness programmes, alongside administrative facilities and an indoor café for visitors.
Indoor and outdoor enclosures house a wide range of animals. Children can safely interact with smaller animals under professional supervision, while open areas include birds and larger animals such as camels, cows, ponies, goats and sheep. Structured programmes combine observation, feeding sessions and guidance on responsible care, reinforcing environmental awareness.
The project also includes a veterinary house and outdoor clinic to maintain animal health standards, as well as quarantine and service facilities to ensure sustainable operations. With 179 parking spaces and heritage inspired architecture, Fili Petting Farm strengthens Sharjah’s family tourism and educational offerings within an authentic cultural setting.
