DUBAI: The Dubai Mounted Police Patrols have had a gallopingly busy year. In 2024, they completed 1,464 mounted patrols across key zones, including tourist hotspots, commercial areas, and narrow routes where cars can’t go.
These patrols weren’t just for show. They handed out 463 traffic fines, secured 38 matches, and provided regular support to police stations. With horses navigating tight spaces, the mounted unit has been key in apprehending suspects and boosting visible security in public areas.
Major General Dr. Expert Mohammed Issa Al Adhab, Director of the Mounted Police Station, shared that the division operates from four strategic points, offering full emirate-wide coverage.
But the horses weren’t all about policing. The Events and Shows Division took part in 165 public events, up from 159 in 2023. That includes everything from national parades to community shows.
When it comes to training, the numbers are impressive. In 2024, 2,121 knights were trained for races, a sharp rise from 951 in 2023. 177 cadet officers joined the mounted ranks, and 23 endurance race riders were trained — nearly triple last year’s figure.
The station also ramped up its therapeutic work, helping 36 people through Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy and 126 individuals with special needs through dedicated riding programmes.
Their Guinness World Record for the golden horseshoe and representation in Egypt’s Military Championship added some serious international clout.
With AI-powered horse health forecasting and smart stable plans in development, Dubai’s Mounted Police are trotting straight into the future.
