DUBAI: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Parkin are set to expand electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure across the city, with new charging stations launching in the first quarter of 2025. As part of the first phase, DEWA will install alternating current (AC) chargers with a capacity of 22 kW x 2 at key parking locations managed by Parkin. Each station will serve two parking spaces.

Strategically placed in high-density residential areas with limited EV charging options, the new stations will be available in on-street parking zones A and C. Users can conveniently pay both the EV charging fee and parking charges through Parkin’s app in a single transaction.

This collaboration supports Dubai’s push towards green mobility by making EV charging more accessible. It is expected to enhance the utilisation of parking spaces near chargers, improving operational efficiency while encouraging more residents to switch to electric vehicles.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, emphasised that this initiative aligns with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, reinforcing the city’s goal of becoming a top global destination for living and investment.

Parkin CEO Eng. Mohamed Al Ali highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility, noting that these chargers will further enhance Dubai’s parking infrastructure and incentivise EV adoption.

DEWA currently operates around 740 EV Green Charger points across Dubai and plans to expand this network to 1,000 by the end of 2025. Launched in 2014, DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative has played a key role in supporting the city’s transition to sustainable transport.
