ABU DHABI: The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has released silver coins to commemorate its Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years of financial excellence.
This special-edition coin honours the CBUAE’s pivotal contributions to the banking and financial sectors, reflecting the leadership’s vision to position it among the world’s top central banks. A total of 3,000 coins, each weighing 60 grams, have been issued.
The obverse features an image of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, accompanied by his name in Arabic and the title “President of the United Arab Emirates.” The reverse showcases the CBUAE building with inscriptions marking “50 Years of the Central Bank of the UAE,” the years 1973-2023, and a nominal value of AED50 in both Arabic and English.
For added convenience, the CBUAE has introduced a digital service to purchase these commemorative coins via its website. This service ensures secure access through UAE Pass, offering a seamless buying experience. The coin is priced at AED650, including delivery fees, and can be purchased by collectors and enthusiasts globally.
The initiative aligns with the CBUAE’s commitment to adopting international best practices, enhancing the financial sector, and providing world-class services. It aims to reduce consumer effort by simplifying access and minimising unnecessary burdens.
In addition to the Jubilee coin, the platform now allows users to purchase other commemorative coins issued by the CBUAE over the years. The service went live on January 22, 2025.
