Ajman unveils new HR law featuring flexible work models, family leave, and inclusion policies to support a modern public sector.

AJMAN: Ajman has introduced a forward-thinking Human Resources Law aimed at reshaping government employment by promoting flexible working models, comprehensive family leave, and inclusive policies for people of determination.

Approved by the Ajman Executive Council, chaired by Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, the law is a key initiative supporting the goals of Ajman Vision 2030, which seeks to build a sustainable, people-centred government workforce.

The new law features extensive family leave provisions, including maternity and paternity leave, marriage leave, childcare, bereavement, and caregiver leave for first-degree relatives. Parents with five or more children, as well as pregnant employees, are now entitled to flexible hours, improving work-life balance and supporting family cohesion.

A major innovation in the law is the adoption of modern work structures. Government employees will be able to select flexible weekly schedules, distribute work hours over several days, and even work remotely — both within and outside the UAE. These updates are designed to improve job satisfaction, boost productivity, and create a digital-first work environment.

Ajman’s HR law also strengthens inclusion for people of determination. It mandates accessible infrastructure and adaptive tools, grants reduced working hours, and prohibits job termination based on pre-existing disability at the time of hiring. These protections ensure equality and institutional integrity.

Beyond structural reforms, the law promotes psychological well-being and institutional happiness, reaffirming Ajman’s commitment to employee health and organisational sustainability.

By combining flexibility, inclusion, and compassion, the emirate positions itself as a leader in public sector reform across the UAE, setting a model for progressive governance aligned with community needs.
