AC Milan Eid collaboration celebrates Emirati heritage through a new Sadu-inspired artwork created with Dubai Culture and artist Fatema Alkaabi.
DUBAI: AC Milan and Dubai Culture & Arts Authority have launched a special creative project for Eid Al Adha, bringing together football, heritage and contemporary Emirati design. The new initiative, titled the AC Milan Eid collaboration, features artwork by Emirati artist Fatema “Fay” Alkaabi inspired by traditional Sadu weaving and the Italian club’s iconic red and black identity.
The project forms part of the wider Eid in Dubai campaign under the Season of Wulfa initiative, which focuses on strengthening family ties and celebrating Emirati traditions and cultural values. Dubai Culture said the partnership reflects its continued efforts to preserve local heritage while supporting Emirati creatives on international platforms.
Alkaabi’s artwork combines the geometric patterns and rhythms of traditional Sadu craftsmanship with the famous vertical stripes associated with AC Milan since the club’s founding. Sadu, recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, remains one of the UAE’s most recognised traditional crafts.
The artist also incorporated visual references inspired by the UAE landscape and the festive spirit of Eid Al Adha, blending historical traditions with modern artistic expression. The AC Milan Eid collaboration was shared across the club’s digital platforms as part of its outreach to audiences across the Middle East.
AC Milan said the project strengthens its growing relationship with the region, where it remains the most followed Italian football club in both Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with more than 11 million supporters according to Nielsen and GWI data. Since opening Casa Milan Dubai in 2023, the club has expanded partnerships with regional creatives and institutions, including projects involving filmmaker Nāyla al-Khāja and artist Kareemgraphy. The AC Milan Eid collaboration now adds another cultural chapter to that journey.
