Dubai establishes a new Orchestra Foundation to promote Emirati musical heritage, nurture local talent and strengthen the emirate’s global cultural presence.
Dubai, UAE: Dubai is set to strengthen its position as a global centre for music, culture and the arts following the establishment of the Dubai Orchestra Foundation, an initiative aimed at celebrating Emirati heritage while creating new opportunities for musicians and performers.
Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, said the Foundation reflects the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
She emphasised that music connects communities, preserves cultural identity and encourages dialogue between people from different backgrounds.
Preserving Emirati musical heritage
Established under Law No. 20 of 2026, the Dubai Orchestra Foundation will support orchestral music, preserve traditional Emirati artistic expressions and introduce local musical heritage to international audiences.
The Foundation will establish a local orchestra, organise performances within the UAE and internationally, and support emerging musicians, including People of Determination.
Creating opportunities for musicians
The initiative is expected to open professional pathways for artists, composers and performers while encouraging investment in musical productions and cultural infrastructure.
Sheikha Latifa highlighted the importance of developing sustainable artistic careers and enriching Dubai’s creative economy through music and performing arts.
The Foundation will also encourage collaborations between Emirati and international musicians, strengthening cultural exchange and introducing audiences to diverse musical experiences.
Dubai’s growing cultural ambitions
The initiative builds on Dubai’s broader ambitions to become a leading international destination for arts, creativity and cultural tourism.
The Dubai Orchestra project, approved in 2025, previously outlined a target for Emirati musicians to represent 50 per cent of orchestra membership by 2033.
By combining heritage preservation with modern artistic development, the Foundation represents another step towards establishing Dubai as a destination where local creativity and global cultural influences can flourish together.
Impact to expect
More opportunities for Emirati musicians, international cultural partnerships, investment in performing arts and stronger cultural tourism.
