DUBAI: The Expo 2020 Dubai souvenir passports have become the hottest item among visitors, with sales crossing the 1 million mark in just three months. Alongside, many other Expo-branded souvenirs and merchandise are in high demand, including models of Opti, the AI-powered child-size robot that greets, guides and entertains visitors at different locations.

The Opti robot has become one of the best-selling products in the official stores of Expo 2020 Dubai, especially with the wide variety of products under its name, ranging from toys, key chains, sweaters and magnetic pins to hats. It has sold more than 23,000 pieces so far. The Opti range also includes large plush toys, clip-on, T-shirts, caps, and other items.

Simon Arnold, Managing Director – TVG, the operator of the Expo 2020 Official Stores, said: “There has been considerable effort gone into ensuring the product range caters to every taste and budget. Appetite has been strong for all the ‘must-have’ souvenir items to commemorate a visit to Expo 2020, and it’s encouraging to see an increased level of interest in the full range of products.”

The adorable orange Opti has become a show-stopper across Expo 2020. The mascot not only greets visitors but also shares information, gives directions and tells jokes. He can also break into a dance, much to the amazement of kids and adults alike.

In the high-end souvenirs segment, the gold logo pin of Expo 2020 Dubai figures at the top of the list. This pin has been proudly worn by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as by other Royal Family members and dignitaries.

Among the other souvenirs, the range of children’s caps featuring Alif and Terra, the other Expo 2020 robots, have also been popular, while designs from local hat brand Caliente have been purchased by grown-ups.

Snacks have also been selling well. For something on the go, customers have been reaching for the Date Bars in stores. Made locally in Dubai, the below-100-calorie mid-day snack is free of nuts, allergens, dairy and gluten. And in keeping with Expo’s Sustainability theme, their production line is 100 per cent solar-powered.

Growing in popularity, as word-of-mouth spreads, is the collection of Wild Luxury Candles. This is inspired by the locations, landscapes and natural habitat of Australia – the end product being four exquisite luxury candles with various scents.

And especially popular with international visitors is the range of Camel Milk Soap products. Two of the soap fragrances, mokhalat and musk, reflect the brand’s love of Emirati culture and tradition, while the mandarin and pepper bars contain a mixture of spices. In addition to these, there are soaps with fragrances of jasmine, milk and honey.
